Thank you Bikash,
This is really a wonderful research for all of us who concern DTH. Our Team has already contacted some operators about this and once information from all of them has been gathered, we shall publish for you and rest of the world.

Thank you once again.

I found a site giving a little technical informations about indian DTH system
http://ibnlive.in.com/news/forbes-india-telly-truths-about-dth-cable-tv/101043-7.html
The fact is quite surprising.

The extract goes like this :
=====================================
Fuzzy Logic?
DVD quality picture and sound is technically possible, but in reality there's a huge difference. That's because a typical DVD video stream requires a bandwidth of 4-5 Mbps, whereas DTH operators use only a fraction of that. According to satellite monitoring service Satco DX, Dish TV uses 2.45 Mbps to stream movies on HBO, Tata Sky 1.5 Mbps, while Big TV uses a mere 0.1 Mbps.
==================================================

I did search on net about price of digital TV cable in India and got amazed by cheap price of digital cable TV.

Here are my findings for price of digital cable TV in India :
No. of channels 	60 	      90 	  130 	150
  	12 months 	1499    1990 	   2280 	2499 (price in IC)
with free Set Top Box
source: http://www.asianetdigital.co.in

Rental schemes for Hathway Digital Cable
  			   Scheme 1 	  Scheme 2
Refundable
deposit 	            Rs.999          Rs.250
Monthly rent Rs.30 Rs.45 (prices are in IC)
with different scheme for pay channels
Source : http://www.hathway.com

sourceforum : http://broadbandforum.in/dth-cable-fm-iptv-cas/

Let's see what cable operator costs for their digital system.

I will appreciate TechSansar Team if you make contact with the cable operators about digital cable system with different aspects like pricing etc and post a article regarding this issue covering as much information as possible. I personally be grateful to TechSansar, if so.

Wow, full shot! Thank you very much for your view regarding DTH. Our Team have been trying to contact those DTH owners regarding their technical know how and pricing, but none of them give us any replies, never.

Consumer awareness is a must in Nepal.

I doubt the DTH business will boom in Nepal. The main drawback of DTH, I think, is to distribute DTH, u need to buy separate STB and pay installation charge+monthly bill according to no. of ur TV sets. This eventually increases the cost of DTH and I think medium class people will not subscribe to DTH but rather cling to the cable.

Another threat to Nepali DTHs is from Cable Operators who are trying to upgrade their system from analog to digital. On the promotion adervtisement, it is said that in the digital system, u can distribute upto 3 TV sets with 195 channels. From not so conformative source, I came to know that upgrading to digital cable system requires a STB (Rs around 4K - somehome less that initial costs of DTH) and monthly fee of at most Rs 400.* I found a website realdigitaltv.com.np concerning about digital tv in Nepal but without any pricelist. If they offer the same what they have promoted (which seldom occurs, most lure the customers saying beautiful words), then quality seeking persons like me will subscribe to the digital cable system.

Besides most of channels on Nepali DTHs are FTA (Free To Air) channels are completely free. I think HD quality DTH for nepali customer is just to lure murgas. It will not going to happen at least in next couple years. (For HD TV, STB should also be HD standard).

If the DTH providers come with attractive schemes like heavy discount on multiple connection, free 2nd connection, then I guess the scene will be different. (Such schemes are offered by Indian DTHs with large reduction in initial cost also; the cheapest comes with only IC 888!)

Just yesterday ,We came to know about the reality of Dish Nepal.The government has banned Dish Nepal saying that it has been selling Set top box without developing its infrastructure according to rule.If it is proved by the court then it will be very bad to the budding DTH in Nepal..Like Unity group, lets not see Dish nepal as second unity..

Divas je,

We are not inferior than indians. The only difference is the degree of opportunity we do have and them in every terms. Many of us quite realized this fact.

Anyway the technology DTH has multiple capability of ISP, but service and technology has its cost if it is feasible surely the day will come shortly when u will be using internet form your DTH.
