The Chairman of Home TV said that we are proud to introduce Home TV as Nepal’s first DTH Service. The inaugural ceremony was held at Home TV’s Earth Station located at Bhainsepati, Lalitpur. Bad timings for DTH TVs in Nepal

Bad marketing or the policy behind. We are the first DTH TV in the Nepalese market – the same sentence we have been hearing for months by now. But none of them have officially launched yet – we being satisfied by their so called high definition ads on analog 4:3 television sets. DTH TV Nepal : The sky’s the limit for satellite TV operators

The government has issued licenses to six firms to operate direct to home (DTH) satellite television. However, experts have stated that three operators at the most would be able to operate the service as there aren’t enough satellite transponders having a footprint in Nepal.

According to experts in television broadcasting, most of the satellite transponders have been leased by Indian companies and Nepali DTH operators will not be able to obtain sufficient frequency bandwidth till 2012. Leasing a satellite costs over Rs. 250 million annually and on an average 108MHz is needed for transmitting 60 channels in MPEG 4 format. [Read more...]
