Windows 10 brings new features including Microsoft Edge – the new Internet Browser

From Tech Preview to Insider’s Preview, Windows 10 is gaining momentum already. Microsoft has announced that the release of their most awaited next generation of Operating System (OS) Windows 10 is begins at the end of July 2015 – precise Windows 10 release date being July 29th, 2015. Microsoft has also already committed free Windows 10 availability for the existing users of Windows 7 and 8.1, and Windows Phone 8.1 devices.

Many have been expecting that Windows 10 is most likely to displace all previous versions of Windows. One of the reasons Windows 10 being a universal platform for all devices from heavy gaming computers to Internet of Things (IoT) particles, from server standards to Windows Phone make up – let Windows 10 features keep rolling.

Microsoft has worked hard to resolve all issues underlying with Windows 8 which didn’t work as expected. Windows 8 as perceived by the users was (touch) tablet oriented OS and confusing dual personality start screen. However, Windows 10 will be the ONE OS for all PCs, Laptops, Tablets and Smartphones. Windows 10 Technical Preview was initially released back in October 2014. As users interaction with the preview was enabled by default, Microsoft has already collected user feedback even if users didn’t submit them willing – that was a part of the agreement with the preview release anyway.

Windows 10 brings new features including Microsoft Edge  – the new Internet Browser, let’s explore features of Windows 10 that’s aimed at users upgrading them to free Windows 10 from their existing Windows 7 and 8.1 machines. (You might want to explore Windows 9 Windows 10 features that we discussed long along when Windows 10 was yet to be named!)

Cortana

Cortana is Microsoft’s personal digital assistant equivalent to Siri in iOS & Google Now in Android devices. However, Cortana works across all Windows 10 devices to help get things done.

Microsoft Edge

Microsoft Edge aka Project Spartan – Rule the web – is an all-new browser built to deliver a better web experience. Once can write directly on webpages from PC, read articles distraction-free and save favorites to read offline later. Microsoft Edge is so named to reflect the edge of modern web standards and security as the company wants to reflect its commitment to developers.

Microsoft Edge is a browser built for doing, with built-in note taking and sharing; a reading pane for no distractions; and integration with Cortana. Microsoft Edge will offer developers better discoverability of their apps and plans for future extensibility with JavaScript and HTML.

This is one of the biggest selling proposition of Windows 10 from Microsoft. The store in Windows 10 is a one-stop shop for hundreds of thousands of apps including games, music, videos, as well as a new version of Microsoft Office.

Free Windows Upgrade Offer

Microsoft has announced a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified new and existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year. And even better: once a qualified Windows device is upgraded to Windows 10, it is supported with updates till the lifetime of the device without additional charge.

Okay, at the last but not the least, Microsoft has welcomed Developers to Windows 10, as Microsoft continue to provide support for all other platforms the developers can bring their work back to the Windows 10 users – thanks to the Universal Windows Platform.
