Many companies are introducing micro laptops in Nepal – usually costing below 100 US dollar. These handy devices are getting popular among students, journalists and other people in recent days. However, these are micro laptops not the netbooks or notebooks. Micro-laptops appear as netbook but they have very basic prototypical features only. TechSansar discusses among those two here.
Baleyo Micro Laptop: Sagar Infosys – the company that has been dealing with computer and other products such as printers, photocopy machines, antivirus software and fax machines, among others has already began the distribution of Baleyo laptops – one of the cheapest laptops available in the market.
The launch of the device was made during the third edition of ICT Trade Fair in Kathmandu months ago. The CE device costs Rs 6500 exclusive of taxes while people are buying it for NRs 7k.
Baleyo has passed the RoHS (Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directives) and obtained the quality standard mark. Baleyo has very basic features. Almost all micro laptops (atleast the 2 as listed in this article) have the basic configurations as listed below:
OS: Windows CE (formatible, OS retained, OS imprinted on the board)
Memory (RAM): 128k
Disk Space (HDD): in MB (expandable via external memory card)
Availability of WiFi connectivity.
Inktek Laptops: These are also micro laptops and not netbooks. They share the features like of Baleyo as listed above. Though Inktek laptops are not much advertised in Nepalese markets, they cover a considerable portion of the micro laptop shares.

Hasee affordable laptops: Hasee is Chinese brand netbooks, many misname it as a laptop and even micro laptop but it is just a cheap netbooks distributed by Zenith Technology in Kathmandu.Hasee Computer Co Ltd is considered to be one of the innovative PC companies in China. The company designs, develops, manufacturers and sells wide range of computer system and services.
The cheapest Hasee netbooks range from NRs 25k to notebook around NRs 57k. ME-122 laptop comes with Intel Atom Processor, has 10.1-inch LED display screen and has 1GB memory, 250GB hard drive and 6-cell battery. The laptop is priced Rs 27,500. Similarly, the FU-400C2D priced Rs 40,000 has Intel Core2Duo processor, 14-inch LED display, 2GB memory, 250GB hard drive and 6-cell battery.
The new models introduced by the company are ME-122, FU-400DC, FU-400C2D, CG-400i5, CV 500i3 and CV500i5. These laptops use processors ranging from Intel Dual Core to the latest Core i5 processor. They have LED LCD display ranging from 10.1 inches to 15.6 inches and posses hard drive space from 160GB to 320GB.
Hasee CG-400i3 and CG-400i5 uses Intel Core i3 and Intel Core i5 processors respectively and both the models have 14-inch LED display, 2GB DDR3 memory, 320 GB hard drive and 6-cell batteries. CG-400i3 is priced Rs 46,000, while CG-400i5 can be taken home for Rs 50,000.
Hasee CV-500i3 uses Intel Core i3 processor, while the CV-500i5 runs on Intel Core i5 processor. Both the models have 15.6-inch LED display, 2GB DDR3 memory, 320 GB hard drive and 6-cell batteries. CV-500i3 is priced Rs 51,000 and CV-500i5 costs Rs 57,500.
