Ericsson News Center has recently revealed the fact that the latest version of iPhone 5 fully supports High Def voice quality. This is to say that Apple is joining hands with other smartphone makers alliance like Samsung, Nokia, Sony for supporting HD voice in its smartphone namely iPhone. Hence, iPhone 5 can even boost up in voice higher quality, but they are not the new in HD Voice market, poor Apple!
The Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) has said that at the end of August, the HD voice has been offered thru 45 networks in 35 different countries, and the expansion of HD-voice services has been increasing rapidly globally.
Ericsson, which jointly holds the patent for Adaptive Multi-Rate Wideband (AMR-WB) technology – on which HD voice is based – has been offering HD voice for several years, but it has only been in the past 24-36 months that many networks and terminals have adopted AMR-WB capabilities.
The new iPhone 5 supports HD Voice when in WCDMA networks, hence American telcos are attracted to providing HD Voice in their service. The technology is a way for operators to differentiate their voice services from their competitors, a big step forward for the industry as voice quality has largely remained stagnant over the past few years. This will also help operators reduce churn, improve user experience, and encourage users to make more and longer calls because of the improved quality.
