Not much of interest to the customers, but most of them may not be happy with Microsoft’s trend of ever changing names for their popular email service – Hotmail. Back to 1996, hotmail was one of the first web-based email service launched in 1996 by Sabeer Bhati and Jack Smith. Since then there were series of christened from MSN Hotmail, to Microsoft Hotmail and to Windows Live Hotmail. Until today Microsoft decided to say good by to hotmail officially and promote their enterprise and promising all new Outlook.com.
The new transition from hotmail to outlook brings all new intuitive interface and charm, maybe Microsoft wants everything in Window 8 metro style. Microsoft says outlook is their modern email platform. The new and improved inbox and clutter free design is very appealing, and fits right into Windows 8 touch-based UI category.

Outlook with its new clutter free intuitive seek look and touch based interface will bring in more customers back to Microsfot.

Microsoft claims Outlook as the next generation communication service with integrated messaging (conversations or IMs), perfect for touch based devices and seek. The email below is the welcome to outlook.com from Microsoft themselves.

At Microsoft, we’ve got a long history with email — from Hotmail, our consumer service used by more than 300 million people monthly, to Outlook and Exchange, the software and service managing communications, calendar, and contacts for many millions more.
Using the lessons we’ve learned from both consumers and enterprises, it’s our goal to become the very best email service anywhere. That is a big statement – but one we are absolutely committed to deliver upon. That journey starts today.

Outlook.com – An experience with no compromises

Outlook.com is the first step in creating one complete experience for the next generation of communications. Email should be connected to your friends – whether they like to use Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Google, or a combination. Email should let you get more done, faster – with immediate access to your inbox and tools that can automatically categorize, move, or delete messages you don’t want. Email should be deeply integrated with other services – for Outlook.com, you’ll find that Office Web Apps, SkyDrive, and, soon, Skype come built right in. And we hope you have already noticed our fast, beautiful user experience.
