YouTube – world’s most used video sharing and hosting service or website from Google – has finally enabled offline viewing feature in it’s Mobile apps for users in Nepal. Using the YouTube Offline feature, users can save the videos they watched on updated mobile YouTube app and watch those videos later even when they don’t have Internet connection.

YouTube offline was the feature introduced to other countries including India quite sometime ago but Nepalese Internet users expected that this feature might have been skipped by Google for users in Nepal thinking that YouTube’s cache server in Kathmandu. However, this cache server is in Nepal Telecom’s premise and not all local ISPs get benefit from YouTube’s caching feature. This YouTube offline feature will not help users even with sluggish Internet connection who had to wait for hours for buffering before the video played.

Basically, with this feature, users will be able to watch videos without an Internet connection (well, at least for 30 days – you need to have Internet after that or before to continue watching Offline YouTube video after 30 days duration.) For this to work, you need to download the video you want to watch offline. (But keep in mind that not all videos on YouTube are available for offline viewing. Video uploaders should have enabled this feature for users to use.) When you tap on the download button of your chosen video, you will be given an option to choose the quality of the video to be downloaded. 720P and 360P are available.

Once the download is complete, it is saved under Offline category as shown in screenshots, which is the only category available to view when your phone isn’t connected to any network. You can click on any video saved in the Offline category and it will play on your YouTube smartphone app.

The downloaded videos will be deleted on their own if you don’t connect to the Internet in 48 hours.
