The TeliaSonera holding GSM operator Spice Nepal Pvt Ltd is going to re-brand it’s GSM service brand name from present Mero Mobile to Ncell. N-Cell refers to Nepal Cell. The company has preceded all formalities to the concerned department and ministries for changing the company’s service brand.
updated: Mero Mobile is renamed as Ncell not N-Cell. To our surprise, Spice Nepal didn’t brought any exciting offers (rumors of 4G or cheaper data rates) except their all new purple colored websites and the new logo Ncell. Spice Nepal’s new website for Ncell @ http://ncell.com.np.
The company has submitted the N-Cell logo and trademark to the Department of Industry.
Spice Nepal is going to launch some spanking offers while it launches its new brand and logo in coming month of March.
After 80 per cent of the Spice Nepal was purchased by Finnish TeliaSonera Holdings about one and a half years ago, the new management is changing the way Mero Mobile looks like. They have spent about 12 crore (120m) USD to transform Spice Nepal to new look. The company had announced that it would be spending 25 crore USD within 2009 and 2010.
The Spice Nepal had started to operate since Aswin 2062 BS under GSM services. Now the reach of the Spice Nepal is over 40 districts making it second largest Cell Operator of the nation.
Is it just the logo and the name that another GSM Mobile operator in Nepal going to change or is it the service that the Nepalese customer’s demand going to be delivered? The answer is yet to see.
