Unlimited Technologies, a Market Development Partner (MDP) of Microsoft for Nepal, organized the official launch of Microsoft’s next Office Suite 2010 today here in Kathmandu. The launch of the Microsoft Office in Kathmandu was held when software giant Microsoft made it globally. This may also mark that Nepal is going along with the Global market in technologies, at least a good news for Nepal.
The most significant version that Microsoft ever made – Office 2010.
The official launch was observed in Nepal with the inauguration by lightening the panas by Abhishek Kant, a Community Program Manager for India who also sees South Asia for his field (we did expect some technically advanced form of inauguration, tho’ MDP went traditional style, while the opening ceremony classical dance was really appreciable.) It was MS community, yes, they really appreciate the world of their own.
Allen Bailochan Tuladhar, the head of the MDP, excitingly presented the program, the excitement was rather more lauded during initial phases. The later versions of the program got lost in exhaust while the persons who were supposed to demo the specific products couldn’t exactly show the demo. There was no internet connection in the hall (should we call UTL’s wireless CDMA a connection when it is about Microsoft Web Apps.) While the program was supposed to explore the features of all new Office 2010 deeply, it failed to do so.
We, at least the tech enthusiasts, expected some really useful and hidden features on Office Suite applications. However, we must appreciate it that Microsoft Nepal is really doing good. While we want to express many thanks, they should really think about the shortcomings during the presentation as well. Thumbs up to the MDP team.
Back to the presentation, Mr Kant said he didn’t came to launch MS Office 2010 only, but to share his experiences, culture and to visit his maternity sharing – while Allen was referring his visit was merely just for this launch program. Abhishek said he spends 80% of his time in Outlook Express while he talks about top 3 things he likes MS Office 2010-
1. Conversation View
2. Quick Steps
3. Linked Notes
Mr Kant showed his Outlook Express with 2 thousand mails, yet the tagline followed “ I am where my Office is” or should we say “Your Office is where you are.” Time and again we were said that MS Office 2010 is the most significant version that Microsoft ever made. And yes it is (our personal experience of 15 months tells this.)
Each attendees were given the free Office 2010 Professional Plus software disc at the end of the event. However, one has to work a lot to get the product key – while the disk case read Trial Key – we verify on it.
