If you are looking to create a public Live event in Microsoft Teams for the first time, you will notice that the “Public” option might not be available. Microsoft Teams provide a very good integrated webinar feature without additional cost for organizations unlike the Zoom counterpart. However, the Microsoft Teams administrators need to enable the public Live events in Teams initially. In this video tutorial, we are going to do the same.
We will walk you thru the Microsoft Teams administration dashboard to enable public Live events in Microsoft Teams.
On your Microsoft Teams, open Calendar and navigate to the Live Events from the top right drop down chevron.
Set up a Live event, supply the title, location, details and other information that the webinar participants might need.

Once ready hit Next on the New Live event wizard. You will realize that the option Public is disabled. In fact, the Live event public option is disabled by default from the Microsoft’s side.
Enable Live Events from Teams Admin
Head over to the Microsoft Teams admin center. Navigate to Meetings, then to the Live events policies. This is where you will see the organization wide default global policy. If you want, you can still create a new policy. But in our example, we are going to edit the Global default policy.
In this Global Live events policy, you see four options from where you can control even scheduling, event transcription for attendees, who can join those scheduled Live events, and who can record an event. Our interest is on “who can join scheduled Live events”, select the “Everyone” option from the drop down and save it.
You can also fine tune other options to meet your purpose in Teams events.
Now head on to “Live events settings” where you can provide your support URL and third-party video distribution providers if you have subscription with them.
Once the Global policy to allow public participants is enabled, wait for up to 24 hours for the policy to be active and appear on your Teams account.
After a few hours of applying the policy, we found that the public option in the Live events has been enabled.
The Live event has now been open to anyone – and they will be able to attend the Live event or the webinar without having to login to the Teams.
Fine tune how you will produce your Live event aka webinar with the Microsoft Teams now.
Please note, Nepali is NOT available in the language to translate the captions of the even or the webinar.
Invite public participants or attendees by sharing the link to your meeting. The Live event resources are also available for both the Live event producer, organizer and presenters.
Thanks for sharing .
