Geeks, technocrats and all other tech enthusiasts meet up timely in Kathmandu for creating the capital Geekmandu – a center of ICT excellency in Asia. For a few months by now, Kathmandu has been observing many geeky events. From TEDxKTM to BarCamp Kathmandu, from Twitter Meetups to AidCamps and other Facebook-aided events, Kathmandu has been working hard to be one of the IT center globally. If you have missed any of such events, you still have some to join in recent future. We have collected some of the geeky events that got attention right now in the valley and work toward true development of ICT in the country (while we try to avoid events which sell old computers & end up saying ICT expo).

Barcamp Kathmandu: When- August 6, 2011; where – Nepal Administrative Staff College (NASC). Jawalakhel, Lalitpur, Nepal. Not only Geeks, but all social media and tech enthusiasts can participate in the barcamp and it is free entrance. And, oh, yes there would be free WiFi as well.

Organized by YoungInnovation Pvt Ltd, Nepal (YIPL), this Barcamp Nepal is specially focused about getting and utilizing the international funding in Nepal. Hence, called Aid Transparency Barcamp, Nepal. Thinking about a startup in Nepal, you must join this group.
Tweet meetup (random): Twitter meet up in Kathmandu are frequent, and independent. Most of them are lead by group of @tfcnepal, while you can find one using #tweetmeetup #tweetmeetktm. If you get lucky you will end up with a twittaholic’s group.
TEDxKTM: One such event has just passed previous week. TEDx Kathmandu, an independently organized TED Event, feature the lectures or talks from people of varied fields on their expertise, believes, and the other way faced in life.
