Kathmandu Mini Maker Faire to be held in September 22 & 23.

Nepal Communitere, in partnership with Rural Development Initiative (RDI), Maker Valley and Global Innovation Gathering (GIG), is hosting the only festival of its kind celebrating innovations in Nepal– the 2018 Kathmandu Mini Maker Faire (KMMF) this weekend on September 22 & 23, 2018.
After the success of the first KMMF event in 2016 with over 1500 people attending, Nepal Communitere will open its doors once again this weekend for the second installment of KMMF.
Kathmandu Mini Maker Faire 2018
A Maker Faire is a family-friendly festival of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker movement. KMMF 2018 will bring this global platform to Nepal to help showcase innovations that are unfolding everyday across Nepal to the world.
The KMMF is part of the global Maker Faire movement that started in San Francisco in 2006. The festival has been hosted in many major cities across the world including New York, Beijing, Munich, Rome, as well as Washington D.C. at the U.S. White House in 2014.
KMMF 2018 will explore at how the maker movement in Nepal and around the world can contribute to the ways we design our future homes, communities, cities and lives. KMMF will bring together makers and innovators from Nepal and abroad to develop making culture in Nepal.
The event will host dynamic guest speakers from the Philippines, Kenya, Uganda, Germany, the UK, Bangladesh, India and throughout Nepal. There will be a KidsZone hosted by Karkhana, a live arts installation by Kaalo101, a community clean up and gardening project by Drishti Kathmandu, ongoing workshops in the Makerspace and Spark Sessions.
It’s a celebration of STEAM learning, arts and creativity, maker vendors, expo pieces, a virtual reality booth, drone flying, 3D printing, solar power technologies, smart greenhouses, electric rickshaws, the internet of things and much more.
This year we will be awarding 3 Incubation Awards of 1 lakh rupees each to help winning teams translate their innovations into successful businesses!
