On a recent update of the Nagarik App, one very important feature has been added – your vehicle information module. With Nagarik App, you can now register and view your vehicle information, details of vehicle tax and related info. This feature is currently limited to vehicle owners from Bagmati Province or Bagmati plus Narayani Zone.
Register your vehicle in Nagarik App
Update your Nagarik App install, and tap “Vehicle Tax” – we wish they call it just “Vehicle” or “Vehicle management” – tax suggests government’s keen interest on taxation (just a plain thought!)
Search your vehicle. Currently Nagarik App supports vehicle search only for Bagmati province (Province 3) and Bagmati plus Narayani Zonal registrations. Select the vehicle registered office, vehicle type, lot number, alphabetic symbol and the vehicle number. Once registered you can see your vehicles list in the Nagarik App.
Tap your vehicle and you can request to correct your vehicle’s information including owner’s name and bluebook number. You can also check tax to pay and tax paid so far for this vehicle.
Important to note that you declare that the vehicle information submitted are true, correct and verified with the details in the Vehicle Ownership Document aka Blue Book. This can also make you liable to any fines and penalties in case of false information.
Will Nagarik App replace carrying physical bluebook?
While we still cannot pay any vehicle tax thru mobile wallets, ebanking platforms or any electronic/digital means probably due to bureaucratic hassles, we can definitely get the latest vehicular tax information in the Nagarik App. This can help us with future fines and penalties related to the vehicle tax.
With Nagarik App, government should announce carrying bluebook is optional at least for the vehicle owner. Since you as a verified owner of the vehicle, you have up to date information of your vehicle, registration details, tax details of the vehicle; this should be sufficient for traffic police during checks.
