It’s coming this fall and it’s free and easy to upgrade wirelessly on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Features of iOS 6 ( and iPhone 5)

  1. Wi-Fi Plus Cellular Plus 4G LTE
    Finally, Apple is introducing Wi-Fi Plus Cellular in iOS 6. This has long been a matter of discussion. Apple has given enough hints that iPhone 5 with iOS 6 will support 4G LTE, atleast with some carriers.

    The looks and feel of iOS 6 will be much more alike with iOS 5. The notification pull down bar along with folders and many other new elements added in iOS 5 will be present.   6. Multilingual Siri
    Siri – Apple voice assistant now understands more languages and is also available on the new iPad. With iOS 6, it works in more countries and also knows the answer of the latest scores and stats for your favorite teams and players, movie nights. Siri even can show you the latest reviews and showtimes, can find best restaurants in town and make reservations. Siri can open your apps for you, no tapping required now. You can even use Siri to post Facebook status and updates your tweets.

    With Passbook, Apple introduce the feature to store your tickets, boarding passes, coupons and gift card on your Smartphone or Apple tablet. With passbook you can scan your iPhone or iPod touch to check in for a flight, get into a movie. The more exciting thing about Passbook is, when you reach the airport and if your gate changes after you have checked in for your flight, Passbook will alert you to make sure you are not relaxing in the wrong terminal.
  8. Shared Photo Streams
    Now you can share the photos you want with the people you want to share. Simply choose photos from the Photos app, tab the share button, choose who you want to share your photo with, and they are on their way. Friends using iCloud on an iOS 6 device or a Mac running Mountain Lion get the photos delivered immediately in the Photos app or iPhoto.
  9. Facebook Integration
    After integrating Twitter in iOS 6, Apple is offering something similar with Facebook in iOS 6. Share a photo to Facebook right from Camera or Photos. Post your location right from Maps. Brag about a high score right from Game Center. If you have your hands full, you can just ask Siri to post for you. Isn’t it exciting? All you have to do is, you need to sign in to Facebook only once.

    A features clearly inspired by Google Maps, the ability to drop pins on locations and places of interest which also let you see information such as the address, photos and phone numbers with a Quick Route option to get you there. Tilt and rotate to view an area, and Maps keeps the names of streets and places where they belong. You can also get visual and spoken turn-by-turn navigation and real-time traffic updates.
  11. Yelp for local service
    A part from the Apple’s very own mapping service, local search online service, Yelp will help to provide information about the nearest restaurants, including user reviews and the ability to place reservations via OpenTable.

    iOS 6 adds new calling features to your iPhone. Now when you are busy and can’t receive the call, if you need to decline an incoming call, you can instantly reply with a text message or set a callback reminder. Also when things are just too hetic, turn on ‘Do Not Disturb’ and you won’t be bothered by anyone.
  13. Redesigned Mail
    Mail in iOS 6, redesigned with a more streamlined interface for easier reading and writing, lets you set up a VIP list so you will never miss an important message from your near and dears ones, from your boss. It’s even easier to add photos and videos to email messages and to refresh your mailboxes, all you have to do is swipe down. Your VIP list is iCloud enabled.
