Finally, the readers of Nepali literature can read Nepali eBooks of some popular novels and books on their handheld devices. Nepa-laya and muncha.com have initiated the e-publishing for taking Nepali literature to the e-world. This is a great contribute to Nepali information and technology service industry and we wait to see more.

eBookNepal has started the ebook edition of the famous two novels Palpasa Cafe and Mayur Times by Narayan Wagle. These two are the first books written in Nepali to go electronic. These ebooks can be read on Amazon’s Kindle, other tablets and mobile devices including major smart phones. These ebooks are supposed to support multiple formats – ePUB, PDF and MOBI formats  but the publishing company have not given any information regarding IRP and DRM protection of these ebooks. One can login to ebooknepal.com or shop at ebooks.muncha.com and find more about this. Each best selling novels costs around $4.03 . After purchasing an e-book, you can download it twice – does it have to do something with copyright issues and portability, or is it like purchasing two same books for your family members?

However, this is not the first time in Nepal for books going electronic. Years before we have played Nepali poems, gazals and stories via electonic formats of CD and cassette tapes. Also there are many portals regarding the online literature where we can listen, read or watch Nepali literature based poems, stories, gazals and more genres.
